The Progressive Climate Foundation made a lasting impact on the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) on 8 Feb 2025 with a massively successful workshop on Sustainable Agriculture, food and water. The workshop was a hub of creative energy. It helped participants in learning and youth-led climate action where over 100 excited young people were scanned across the country. It was an opportunity to re-imagine the sustainable future food systems, farming plans and water management in Pakistan.

Knowledge and Youth Empowerment

Roshni Hadi, the HR Secretary of PCF, opened the workshop with a speech about climate change and its effects on youth. She reminded participants that young people are not mere spectators of climate change. They are also major actors who can create resilience and develop sustainable localities. Then, the mission, vision and the current activities on the grass-root of the organization was provided to Rehan Rashid, the Social Media Head of PCF. He lead the crowd and showed how PCF’s initiatives in Pakistan is filling the knowledge action gap. He added that young people can also be directly involved in overcoming climate change by joining the movement.

Insights from LCOY Workshop Experts

The most intriguing aspect of the LCOY workshop was when Hamza Masud presented about sustainable agriculture and food security. His potential solutions- new forms of agriculture, food without wastefulness on healthy systems- are however practical enough to benefits society against ordeals of climate and even retain food on the table. Hamza added that agriculture is not a choice anymore but a survival need. He emphasized that young people should revisit the idea of sustainable agriculture. It would not only preserve the existence of the natural wealth but also enable them to make a living.

Establishing climate resilient societies

Later, Vice President of PCF, Hamza Saleem stressed on empowerment of youths as they are the future sustainability of the Pakistani nation. His message echoed PCF’s vision of nurturing a climate-conscious generation willing to challenge traditions. Also, it promotes eco-friendly alternatives through collaboration. The workshop concluded with adventure-based team-building activities designed to put the acquired knowledge into practice. The participants totally brainstormed on the solutions, which are linked with climate-smart agriculture, sustainable food chains, and water conservation at a community-based level. Such activity ensured not only innovativeness, but also shared responsibility and team-work.

Without the Working-room

Momentum besides delivering information was LCOY workshop. The youngsters not only left the session enlightened but also with the passion of being the agents of change. PCF is forthright as well in creating climate programs, funding youth and constructing sustainably via programs such as these. It is also making a direct impact on the rise of a new generation of climate leaders as the foundation focuses on agriculture, food and water and is engaging them in their activity on policies and on their communities. Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF) aims at reorganizing climate education, green farming, water stewardship and mobilizing youth.

Final Thoughts

To sum up, the Progressive Climate Foundation workshop at LCOY Pakistan was much more than a learning event. It was the youth-led climate action spark. The session aimed at awareness and resilience of participants by addressing sustainable agriculture, food, and water. These joint actions enabled youth voices to transform ideas to solutions to the communities. Hence, PCF keeps on producing a generation that is capable of leading to a greener and more sustainable Pakistan.
